YOUNG storytellers have been sharing their favourite books with Teesside care home residents.
Pupils from St Bede’s Catholic Academy visited residents at The Beeches Care Home, both on Green Lane, Stockton-on-Tees, for National Storytelling Week.
The Year 3, 4 and 5 pupils, all aged seven to 10 years of age, brought books they are currently reading in their classes at school.
Resident Cicely Hartley, 86, said: “It’s been marvelous. Absolutely lovely. They’re such marvelous readers.”
Elsie Booth, 88, said: “They are such good readers, aren’t they.”
Alwyn Behan, 86, said: “They are so amazing at reading. They read better than I do.”
Violet Pinegar, 88, said: “You can hear every word so clearly. They are lovely little readers.”
Jess Brown, home manager at The Beeches Care Home, said: “We were delighted to welcome the pupils from St Bede’s Catholic Academy.
“It was so kind of them to visit the home and read to the residents for National Storytelling Week.
“They’re welcome anytime and we look forward to seeing them again in future.”
