Caring Homes is delighted that Riverside Place in Ware, has been shortlisted for a prestigious national healthcare design award.
Riverside Place, which opened in October 2018, offers the best in residential, nursing and dementia care, as well as respite and convalescent care for up to 72 residents.
Judges from the Pinders Healthcare Design Awards visited the home which is one of the finalists in the ‘Best New Care Home’ category for 2019.
The judges – a director from Pinders, two architects and the head of healthcare for HSBC – spent the morning at Riverside Place this week, touring the building and talking to staff. They were accompanied by Riverside Place Deputy Manager Jackie Wicks, Caring Homes Founding Director Helena Jeffery, Commissioning Director Christine Turnbull, Special Projects Manager Alison Curd, Architect John Bell, Interior Designer Jonathan Hooper, Construction Manager Kevin Coleman and Planning and Building Development Manager Nicola Thornton.
A charitable donation of £500 was also given to Caring Homes from Pinders to mark the coveted place in the final and this will be given to the Care Workers Charity which Caring Homes is proud to be supporting.
The Pinders Healthcare Design Awards aim to promote and recognise the very best developments in all types of care-related property and to acknowledge the contribution made by home owners, designers and architects to the wellbeing and quality of life for those in their care.
Whilst architectural standards and innovation are key factors, the overriding test for any project is the degree to which it has recognised the needs and desires of the residents and incorporated these into the final design.
The awards winners will be announced at a lunch event at The Royal Lancaster London Hotel on March 13th.
Riverside Place has been selected as one of three finalists in the category of Best New Care Home (higher development budget) and Caring Homes has a second home, Blenheim Court in Liss, Hampshire, which has been selected as one of three finalists in the category of Best New Care Home (medium development budget).
