Borough Care, the largest not-for-profit provider of care for older people in Stockport, has introduced a ‘Keeping in Contact’ area at its Reinbek home in Davenport.

An area has been set aside so residents can Skype, telephone or email relatives or friends in private. The company has also introduced resident telephones at its Meadway Court home in Bramhall.

Borough Care is working in partnership with telecommunications company One Call Connects All, which is providing ongoing support to both Reinbek and Meadway Court. The telephones have safety features so no strangers can call. They can also be taken out and used when residents go on outings or appointments.

Sophie Gardiner, Area Manager at Borough Care, says: “We’ve made it easier for residents to keep in touch with their loved ones and give them privacy while they do so. We have already noticed an improvement in the wellbeing of many residents who have relatives living in other countries. It’s great for people to be able to have regular contact with family and friends, and keep up to date with what is happening in their lives no matter where they are in the world. Borough Care providing easy ways for residents to speak to, or write to, their loved ones also gives relatives and friends peace of mind.”
