The Care Quality Commission has rated the care being provided by Home Instead Senior Care South East Northumberland to be Outstanding, following an inspection across dates in July and August this year.

The inspection was the first the service had received since being registered with CQC in July 2017. The service is based in Blyth, Northumberland, and provides personal care for people in their own homes. At the time of this inspection 13 people were receiving care.

Home Instead Senior Care South East Northumberland was rated as Outstanding overall and for being caring, responsive and well-led, and Good for being safe and effective.

A full report of the inspection has been published on the CQC website: https://www.cqc.org.uk/location/1-3995012019

Debbie Westhead – Deputy Chief Inspector of Adult Social Care said:

“When we spoke to the people that used the service, and their families, they gave us many examples of how the caring it was and explained how it had made a real difference to their lives. It was clear to us that providing high quality safe care was paramount to everyone at this service.

“We saw how the staff and management involved and worked with the people they cared for, to provide bespoke person-centred care. One of the ways staff did this was finding creative solutions to reengage people in their personal hobbies and interests, whilst supporting their care needs.

“The service really took the time to get to know the people they cared for and recognised that people’s personalities mattered. We found the leadership had embedded this caring culture and fully supported their staff to deliver it. Outstanding at their first inspection, a fantastic achievement well done.”
