Summer isn’t over for Gravesend residents

Summer isn’t quite over for residents of Watling Court Extra Care Housing Scheme in Gravesend, as they took a trip to the Kent coastline to enjoy a day by the sea.

Accompanied by staff of the assisted living scheme, the group of residents boarded the minibus last week, excited for a final summer day out at the coastal town of Herne Bay, kindly arranged by one of the residents, Gill, and Housing Officer, Helen.

Upon arrival, the residents enjoyed stretching their legs with a stroll along the seafront, taking in the sea air and browsing the shops and fun and games on offer on the pier. There was even a Punch & Judy show taking place, which they were thrilled to stop and watch, it brought back plenty of memories of their youth for everyone!

Of course, a day at the Great British seaside wouldn’t be complete without a traditional lunch of good old-fashioned fish & chips. The group tucked into their seaside treat before heading back on board the minibus for a well-deserved rest on the drive home.

Helen Goulding, Housing Officer at Watling Court commented: “The residents had a great day at Herne Bay, they always have such fun when they get together so it was lovely to enjoy a wonderful summer day out before it gets chilly again.

“One of the residents here helped to organise the outing, so I’d like to say a big thank you to Gill for making it happen.”
