Northfleet Care Home residents enjoy a flutter

Residents of Dene Holm Residential Care Home visited the tropical garden at Millbrook Garden Centre last week, eager to see a variety of butterflies flying around them.

There was excitement in the air at the Dene Holm Road Care Home last week, when residents headed out on an outing to the nearby garden centre to visit their Butterfly Experience and learn more about the exceptional creatures.

The Millbrook Butterfly Experience offered the residents a chance to witness an array of stunning butterflies and exotic scented plants from across the world. They got up close and discovered amazing facts about the life-cycle and behaviour of these fascinating creatures. They could also spot and identify many different species, using the butterfly spotter sheet.

After all the excitement of the experience, residents headed to the café for a cup of tea and slice of cake, before heading back to Dene Holm to tell the others about their day.

Christine Hutchinson, Home Manager of Dene Holm said: “The residents had a great day at the Butterfly Experience, they really enjoyed marvelling at the beautiful creatures and hearing some interesting facts about their lives.

“Here at Dene Holm, we try to provide as many activities and outings for our residents as possible, particularly during the warmer months, they often go out for pub lunches, or even just strolls in the sun. Everyone is looking forward to the next trip!”
