Grimsby care home staff celebrate after achieving coveted outstanding rating

Staff at a Grimsby care home are celebrating after achieving the coveted rating of outstanding – by the Care Quality Commission (CQC).

The Anchorage, in Rutland Street, is the only home in the Grimsby area to currently hold this high ranking. Staff, residents and their families are delighted with the achievement and a celebratory party is to be organised.

Penni Brown, chief executive of Hull-based Hica Group, which operates The Anchorage said: “We are overjoyed at our outstanding rating. The Anchorage is the first home within the Hica Group to achieve this and we are extremely proud of the hardworking staff who made this happen.

“We are constantly investing in training, equipment and activities for all our residents and staff across our facilities. I really hope that the staff and residents of The Anchorage enjoy their party, they deserve it.”

Ratings are assessed over five key areas: safe, effective, caring, responsive and well led. The Anchorage received ‘Outstanding’ ratings in three areas, caring, responsive and well led and ‘Good’ in safe and effective.

More than 40 care homes in North East Lincolnshire have been assessed recently and only 0.04% achieved an outstanding rating.

The CQC report highlights that staff are exceptionally caring and hold positive, meaningful relationships with residents. This has been recognised by both residents and families in their care.

The Anchorage offers a range of activities including, craft sessions, sport activities and therapy such as Pets As Therapy (PAT), in which animals visit so that residents can spend time bonding and interacting with them.

Bev Milson, manager at The Anchorage said: “I am over the moon that we have achieved this rating. We always strive to achieve and deliver the most effective care. We put our residents at the heart of everything we do, and we cater for the varying and diverse needs across our home every day.

“I am so proud of the hardworking staff here at The Anchorage who come in daily with smiles on their faces, ready to make a difference.”

The Anchorage has also received a gold award from NE Lincs. Clinical Commissioning Group 3 years running.
