Fylde rest home offers support to local Foodbank

Staff and residents at a Fylde rest home offer support to the Fylde Foodbank.

Residents and their team at The Moorings, one of Lakeview Rest Homes four establishments, made a generous donation to the Fylde Foodbank, which is part of the Trussel Trust UK.

Residents Margaret Hill and Ann Lord visited Fylde Foodbank’s premise in St Annes to make the donation and to learn more of the important role played by the charity. It provide not just food but also support, advice and where needed just a listening ear.

Margaret Hill explained, “Each year we chose which charities we would like to support, and I must admit that the Fylde Foodbank is always one of my preferences. It is such a worthwhile cause and it is very moving to know that we residents and the team at the Lakeview Rest Homes can help in some way.”

Ann Lord added, “The volunteers at the Foodbank were very helpful and informative. They explained how they manage the food and donations given, and how simple things can be done to offer support, for example by donating money to providing shopping bags. They do wonderful and inspiring work.’

Residents and staff at Lakeview Rest Homes raised the money by the sale of art and craft items which had been made by residents over the Christmas period, and also by charitable events held throughout the year. The money raised was matched by a donation from the Rest Home management.

Director Pete Wood said, “We are both proud and pleased to support the charitable endeavours of our residents who continue to be active members of our community.”
