Experienced care manager Matt Mills has been appointed to launch a new high-quality home care service in Kent.
Matt becomes Branch Director for the new Sevenoaks branch of SweetTree Home Care Services, one of the UK’s leading care providers, and has started recruiting a team of exceptional carers.
SweetTree, established 15 years ago, serves more than 350 clients and employs a team of 500 highly trained carers and support workers who look after elderly residents and those with complex needs including learning disabilities, brain injuries, neurological conditions and dementia.
SweetTree’s service in London has been rated ‘Outstanding’ by the Care Quality Commission, making it one of the top performing home care providers in the UK. SweetTree is also the highest ranked health and social care provider, at 35th, in The Sunday Times 100 Best Companies to work for 2018.
Matt, 31, who has lived in Kent all his life, has worked in the care sector for eight years. He previously established and led a new home care franchise based in Canterbury, delivering high standards and high-quality care. This service was rated ‘Good’ overall in its first CQC inspection in 2017.
Matt joined the care profession as a support worker, working across a number of different services including residential and dementia care, supporting day centre clients, and providing supported living for adults with learning disabilities, mental health needs and autism. He worked his way up, gaining Health and Social Care qualifications, to subsequently achieving a Level 5 Diploma in leadership and management in Health and Social Care.
For four years, he worked for Care UK across Kent, being promoted to Branch Manager and then Service Manager. As Branch Manager, he was responsible for the day to day operation and management of a 3,000 hour a week organisation involving more than 170 staff.
Matt is passionate about supporting people to live independently within the community, and being involved in their lives in a positive way. He said: “I was impressed by the way SweetTree focus on working with people rather than for people, and the way they go about their care, putting the client at the centre of everything they do.
“I was also attracted by the way they support and train their staff, and the organisations they work with. I’m looking forward to heading up the new service in Sevenoaks, backed up by SweetTree’s support and guidance. I hope to replicate across Kent the outstanding quality of service SweetTree provide in London.”
Nicki Bones, Director of Operations and co-founder of SweetTree Home Care Services, said: “SweetTree is committed to providing the highest professional standards of person-centred care, and we are delighted that Matt, with his valuable experience of establishing and leading care services, will be spearheading our new service in Kent.”
