Staff and residents across Avery care homes were proud to support Dementia UK through their March Tea Party event, part of the charity’s Time for a Cuppa campaign. Despite the cold and snow that week the Avery homes persevered and enjoyed a great time raising a total of £2,635.54 for Dementia UK.
Residents and staff helped the catering team with refreshments and baking wonderful cakes for a cake sale. The fun events included decorating cups & saucers, fancy dress, inviting schools in to read for World Book Day, plus cupcake games for all to join in with. Everyone, including visitors, enjoyed a lovely afternoon chatting over cups of tea and sweet treats, agreeing that it was a huge success and that they look forward to the next occasion.
Dementia UK helps those facing dementia through its specialist Admiral Nurses; the Avery March Tea Party helped raise vital funds for more nurses to support families living with dementia, in their local communities and through their helpline, 0800 888 6678. Sarah Chambers of Dementia UK was delighted. “A huge thank you to all the Avery residents and staff who took part and helped raise this incredible amount. Your help means we can provide more Admiral Nurses to families who need specialist dementia support.”
