Withy Grove House care home is celebrating after being awarded a ‘Good’ rating by the Care Quality Commission (CQC).
The Preston-based home, on Poplar Grove, was deemed ‘Good’ in all categories by the independent regulator. The home has maintained this high standard, having been graded ‘good’ in all previous inspections. The CQC judges a care facility on its safety, effectiveness, level of care, responsiveness and leadership.
Comments in the report from residents included: “I am happy with the food, it is one of the reasons why I like it here,” and “I trust them and feel I can talk to them. I feel very well looked after here”
A visiting healthcare professional said: “I believe the manager is transparent about any concerns she has and is happy to contact other professionals such as myself as required. She is open to accepting advice and suggestions in an attempt to support residents.”
The inspector noted that: “Staff cared for people in a relaxed, warm and friendly manner. We saw that non-care staff who worked in the home such as kitchen and maintenance staff took time to sit with people and chat. Staff sat talking with people and engaged in lively conversations about their families, social events and sharing memories. Staff took every opportunity to engage with as many people as possible.”
Joanna Hems, Home Manager at Withy Grove, said: “We are delighted to have received such a positive inspection, as the team continuously work very hard, and it is fantastic to see it recognised by the CQC. We won’t be resting on our laurels though, as we are always looking at ways to improve. The comments from the inspector, as well as our residents and visitors, are very humbling and testament to the dedication of our caring team.
“Our number one priority is the wellbeing of our residents and we are confident we will continue to be recognised for this in future inspections.”
Withy Grove House forms part of Larchwood Care and is managed by Healthcare Management Solutions. The service provides residential care for up to 54 older people.
