A Wickford care home played host to some unusual visitors, when local business Pony Pals Club paid them a visit.
Chaplin Lodge, on Nevendon Road, spent an afternoon of fun with the ponies, including one dressed up as a unicorn, and other pets including puppies.
The residents were given the opportunity to spend time with the four-legged friends after staff member Lauren Day won a Facebook competition, telling the company why Chaplin Lodge was the perfect place to visit.
The event is one of many activities offered by the home, which recently have included a World Food Day event, to raise money for the World Food Programme, and a Harvest Festival, where residents collected food for the local food bank.
Joanna Saunders, Home Manager at Chaplin Lodge, said: “We are delighted to have been able to host such fun and varied events for our residents over the past few months.
“At Chaplin Lodge, we understand how important it is to engage our residents in stimulating and interesting activities. The visit from Pony Pals Club really helped our residents, as they were able to interact with the animals, which some have been unable to do for a while.
“I’d like to say a huge thank you to Lauren, who won the competition with Pony Pals Club for us. It was incredibly kind of her to enter on our behalf, and the prize had a very positive impact on both residents and staff on our lovely day.”
