Following their recent ‘Outstanding’ rating from the Care Quality Commission (CQC), Frith House decided to hold a celebration for residents, staff and visitors.

On Friday 3rd November, celebrations began at the Burnham-on-Sea care home with breakfast. Whilst tucking into their usual breakfast of choice, residents were offered a glass of Buck’s Fizz.

The care home was dressed from top to bottom with purple and gold decorations ready for the guests to arrive. Residents and staff were joined by families, friends, colleagues, District Nurses, Mayor Bill Hancock and his consort and wife, Frances. They tucked into a delicious ploughman’s lunch provided by the kitchen staff and listened to speeches.

Mayor, Bill Hancock spoke of his memories of Frith House from years ago and how much it has grown over the years. He said in his speech how it’s brilliant for Burnham-on-Sea and thanked the home for what they are doing for the town.

Chairman, Angela Dupont, spoke at the celebrations: “Outstanding; it means conspicuous, impressive, standing out from the rest. You listen, you’re resilient and responsive, as well as being well-led. You have staff who give the best possible care.”

After lunch was served, the entertainment started with live music from Des Mitchell. He got everyone up dancing, including David, a resident at Frith House who grabbed the microphone and performed a duet with Des. David said it brought back fond memories of taking part in karaoke nights in the local pubs and really enjoyed the chance to perform.

Celebrations ran into the evening with a fish and chip supper, one of the residents’ favourites.

Speaking on the event, Manager, Vicki Mitchell said: “I would like to thank everyone for working hard to make today a success. It has been absolutely fantastic to celebrate our achievement. We’re incredibly proud of our ‘Outstanding’ rating from the CQC and it felt right to invite to celebrate that with so many of our friends and family.”
