Care Inspectorate praises Strathaven care home

Collisdene Care Home in Strathaven has been praised by the Care Inspectorate. The home received three upgrades to ‘Very Good’ in its latest report, highlighting that residents and their families ‘were very happy with the care and support received’. Collisdene care home was praised by the inspectors as having a ‘family feel’ with ‘familiarity and fondness’ resulting in a ‘close and person centred working relationship’ between staff and residents.

 

The inspection report emphasised how every person in the Collisdene community is listened to and cared for. Residents and their families were ‘complimentary about the way in which staff cared for and supported them and appreciated all that was done for them. They felt included in decisions made about the way the service was operated and the way in which they wished to be supported by staff.’

 

New manager Michelle Butler, who joined Collisdene Care Home in December 2016 was delighted with the achievement: “This marks a new chapter for Collisdene and I am thrilled to be part of such a dedicated team where our number one priority is to provide the best possible support for the people we care for.

 

“The inspection report is testament to the hard work and commitment of the team and evidences all of our achievements. We will work hard to implement the recommendations of the Care Inspectorate, and embrace the opportunity to progress and further improve our services.”

 

The care home were upgraded to Very Good (level 5) in three categories: quality of care and support; quality of staffing and quality of management and leadership, and remain ‘Good’ (level 4) in the category: quality of environment.

 

Liz Hamilton, Regional Manager for Canterbury Care, was thrilled with the report: “I am very proud of Michelle and the entire team at Collisdene for their fantastic achievement. To receive upgrades in three areas is an incredible feat that deserves acknowledgement.

 

“The report praised Michelle and commented that she had made a positive change for the better. Staff and inspectors agree that Michelle is supportive and enthusiastic, clearly committed to improving services and the quality of life of residents. I have every confidence in Michelle to lead this professional and driven team to future successes, and to continue to enhance the lives of the residents of Collisdene Home.”
