This is an activity taken on every year and this time around they visited the befriending service in The Square, a family refuge at Frimhurst House, the charity – Aerobility in Blackbush and then onto the new care home run by Aura Care Living.

The care home, Kings Lodge, situated on the Camberley’s Kings Ride, has recently opened and contains the luxuriously finished Kings Bar, salon and a cinema room. It also boats a retreat spa and all of this is available to its residents and their families.

“We were notified about the new care home and thought this was a good opportunity to come and visit the residents,” said Karen Hampton of Surrey Heath’s CCG said. “It is an opportunity to engage with those we do not get to when in our usual positions.

“Without volunteers a lot of organisations and charities would really struggle, in fact many rely on volunteers,” TJ Purssell of the Voluntary Support Group added, who work alongside the initiative.

Lisa Strevens is director of care services for Kings Lodge and said: “It was great to have them in the home and talking to the residents. They played games and enjoyed a cupper with them all – thanks to all involved.”
