St John’s Care Home in Spalding held their very own Memory Walk in aid of Alzheimer’s Society on Sunday 8th October. Organised by Home Manager Juliet Peall, the Memory Walk is part of a nationwide campaign to raise money for the Alzheimer’s Society.
The Alzheimer’s Society Memory Walks saw thousands of people across the country raising money to fund research for a world without dementia. The walk by St John’s care home staff, residents and friends raised a fabulous £720 for the Alzheimer’s Society.
At the end of the walk everyone enjoyed cakes and biscuits baked by Samantha McMurray, Deputy Manager and Dementia Champion, Jane Parish daughter of a resident and Anna Kosyl, Care Assistant.
St John’s Memory walk commenced at 10.30am and was well attended by residents, staff, families and friends who set off from St John’s Care Home in Spalding to complete the circular route.
“The walk is a great opportunity for our residents to get out and enjoy the fresh air with relatives, staff, children and dogs! Our route was wheelchair friendly so everyone was able to participate”. Said Juliet, she added “It’s a fantastic cause, very close to our hearts here at St John’s Care Home, where many of our residents are living with dementia”.
