A Frome care home recently opened its doors for a Hollywood themed extravaganza. Rowden House, which is located on Vallis Road, invited other care homes from Somerset Care to attend their event last week.
Critchill Court, Field House, Southlawns and Fletcher House were delighted with the invitation and arranged transport to ensure the residents could attend. On arrival, residents from the homes were accompanied into a marquee, which was dressed with black and gold decorations to fit the theme. The invitation asked attendees to dress in their finery or to come as their favourite Hollywood actor or character. As a result, residents and staff turned up feather boas, pearls, top hats. Three Fletcher House residents really got into the party spirit and came dressed as Captain Jack Sparrow, James Bond and Charlie Chaplin.
Tim Bassett, local entertainer and Elvis impersonator, took to the microphone and got the residents up on their feet dancing and singing along. Guests enjoyed an assortment of cakes and pastries, with handmade ‘Oscar’ award lollies available for the children.
The party was a huge hit, with next year’s spectacular already being planned with a tropical theme.
Speaking on the event, Manager, Karen Reeves said: “Thank you to all our friends, families and colleagues for making yesterday such a great afternoon. I would also like to thank the staff at Rowden House who have worked so hard to set this up. It was definitely worth all the hard work to see so many people enjoying themselves and making friends in the process. Our tropical spectacular is already planned for next summer and we can’t wait.”
