The status was awarded in recognition of Meallmore’s efforts to ensure the company’s homes are great places to work, as well as great places for their residents to live.
Specialists from Investors in People visited six Meallmore homes over a two week period, which allowed them to talk to over 100 team members from various parts of the business about their experience of being a Meallmore employee.
All team members were also invited to fill in a survey, to give a broader picture of the company’s procedures and processes.
Karen MacDonald, learning and development manager at Meallmore, explained how the company and its employees went about securing the accreditation: “Over the last few years, we have invested a lot of time and effort in developing our procedures to ensure we are a great place to work, as well as a great place for our residents to live.
“This includes our Quality Forums, which gives team members the opportunity to directly give feedback to management; our learning and development videos, which ensure our employee’s skills are right up to date; and our appreciation bags, which recognise the effort of team members who have gone that extra mile.
“We’re extremely proud to have been awarded Silver Investors in People status, as it confirms that our efforts are paying off, and that our processes are improving the careers of our employees.”
Karen explained that although this is a great achievement, there’s always room for improvement: “Getting our silver status is just the first step and we’re going to be working with Investors in People to improve our processes further and aim for gold status.”
Meallmore has been awarded the status in the company’s thirtieth year of operation, which was marked with a garden party where Jim Oag presented the company with its Investors in People plaque.
Gerry Hennessey, managing director of Meallmore, welcomed the award: “Our Investors in People Silver accredited status is fantastic news for both our employees and our residents. Not only will it help us to attract and retain fantastic employees, it will give residents and their families the peace of mind that a Meallmore home is a great place to live.”
Investors in People is an internationally recognised standard which aims to improve the way that companies manage and develop their people. Currently held by 14,000 organisations worldwide, it is underpinned by a rigorous assessment framework, which defines what it takes to lead, support and manage people within a business.
Peter Russian, chief executive of Remarkable, the home for Investors in People in Scotland said: “To achieve Investors in People Silver is a great accomplishment and a sign of the commitment that Meallmore has made to both their people and their residents. I hope more organisations in the area are inspired by Meallmore and begin to work with Investors in People to drive their organisation forward”.
