Barking Hall Nursing Home, located in the Suffolk village of Barking, near Needham Market, is delighted to announce the appointment of Amanda Thornsby as its new Home Manager.
Following a 30-year career as a registered nurse, Amanda moved into the care home environment initially as a Unit Manager before progressing to Clinical Lead. Amanda then took a role of home manager of an independent 42-bed care home in Suffolk, before moving to an 80-bed residential home that specialises in dementia-focused care.
Now, as Home Manager at Barking Hall, Amanda, who is from Bacton in Suffolk, is making her mark at the home which specialises in providing residential nursing care support for up to 49-adults, including those living with Huntington’s Disease, Motor Neurone Disease, Multiple Sclerosis and Parkinson’s Disease.
Confirms Amanda: “Barking Hall is a delightful home located in the heart of the Suffolk countryside. When I came in to interview, I saw so much potential here and I am greatly enjoying working with the team to closely support them in their daily roles, while introducing new systems and processes that deliver efficiencies and enhancements to the services we provide.
“Since arriving at Barking Hall, I have launched a recruitment campaign to bring more carers to the home, and am also working with the activities team to introduce several new initiatives, including ‘Meet the Manager’ events plus we are launching a new Barking Hall Cook Book, which we are aiming to launch before the end of the year.”
