An MP has praised a local home care company for launching a new premium live-in care service, which means older people who need round-the-clock care no longer need to leave the comfort of their own homes.
Dartford’s MP Gareth Johnson visited local home care provider Bluebird Care Gravesham and Dartford at its offices in Gravesend to learn more about the company’s newly launched Premium Live-in Care services.
Gareth said: “Many people with additional care needs prefer to live at home rather than move into a care home. Bluebird Care and other similar companies do a fantastic job – I take my hat off to their carers as they have a very difficult job and without the support they provide we would be facing a significant crisis, as care homes would become full extremely quickly.
“This approach to providing high quality live-in care ensures that people can get the support they need, tailored to their requirements, and such services are incredibly valuable.”
During the visit Mr Johnson also met with Bluebird Care Gravesham and Dartford’s management team and Care Assistants to learn more about how the company provides home care to people with age-related requirements, as well as live-in care for people with complex health needs such as dementia. Mr Johnson also discussed the challenges facing health and social care provision within the Dartford area and the impact of the financial pressures faced by local government.
Clare Mortlock, Operations Manager at Bluebird Care Gravesham and Dartford, said: “It was a great opportunity to be able to meet with Gareth, both as a growing local business providing a valuable service to the local community, and also as a home care provider. Gareth seemed genuinely interested and impressed with what we do, and we were pleased to offer him the opportunity to learn more about our new Premium Live-in Care services.”
Bluebird Care’s new Premium Live-in Care Service provides vulnerable and elderly adults with round-the-clock care seven days a week. Care Assistants live with customers in their own homes, for anything from two weeks to ongoing long-term care and support.
Clare, Operations Manager continued: “Leaving the home you love, where you may have lived for many years, can be a very upsetting and daunting experience for many older people, but there are options open to people other than moving to a care home.
“Live-in care offers customers the reassurance of 24-hour care and support in the comfort of their own home, providing the right support with daily tasks, from assistance with cooking and cleaning, to ensuring customers take their medication and providing companionship.”
Bluebird Care Gravesham and Dartford customer Gus Pellett, 89, has already experienced the benefits that a live-in care service can provide. Following a stroke 15 years ago, Gus requires full-time live-in care.
Gus said: “Bluebird’s Care Assistant does a great job making sure I am very well looked after, from making sure I eat and drink regularly to helping me with my medication, housework personal hygiene. Life can be very difficult because of my condition and I really struggle with daily tasks due to my mobility issues. It is reassuring for me and my family to know that someone is always here in case I fall, and I enjoy the company too!
“I didn’t want to leave my home as I’ve been here for five decades and I have a lot of happy memories here. Thanks to the excellent live-in care services I receive from Bluebird Care I have been able to maintain my independence without needing to move to a care home, which is a huge relief.”
