On Friday 21 April – which was also National Tea Day 2017, residents and the team at Brambles Residential Care Home in Birchfield Road hosted a vintage high-tea party fit for The Queen.
Bringing a slice of the London celebrations into the heart of Redditch, residents and their loved ones enjoyed an abundance of cream teas, cupcakes and other sweet treats, while the home was adored with bunting and flags.
90-year-old Thelma Parker said: “Oh the cakes were delicious, it was great to mark The Queen’s birthday.”
The Sanctuary Care home’s activities leader Fiona Morsy said: “We always love a good tea party and this was the perfect reason to have one. We adore The Queen here and we wanted to bring the celebrations into the heart of the home and we did just that. It was wonderful to hear all the residents’ fond memories of The Queen and enjoy a delicious cupcake or two.”
The official National Tea Day 2017 event takes place at Kensington Roof Gardens on the 21 April to celebrate HRH’s birthday. As part of the awareness day they encourage people across the UK to host their own tea party to extend birthday celebrations throughout the country.
