Frethey House care home in Taunton, Somerset, has been praised in its latest CQC inspection report for its’ warm, spontaneous and respectful staff. The home was rated as providing a ‘good’ care service in all areas in the inspection and staff were seen to demonstrate best practice in their approach to care, treatment and support.
Part of the Caring Homes Group, Frethey House provides residential and nursing care for up to 41 residents; it was given a ‘good’ overall rating for providing a safe, effective, caring, responsive and well-led care service in the inspection which took place in February.
The CQC report praised Frethey House saying “staff interactions were warm, spontaneous and respectful, laughter and playful dialogue was witnessed throughout the day.”
One resident told them: “The staff are all lovely, very caring and they get on well together. I could not be better cared for anywhere else no matter how much I paid.” Another said: “I am safe, warm and well cared for. They never forget about me and know me so well.”
The report continues, finding staff always to be kind and caring and noting that Frethey House has attained the Gold Standards Framework (GSF) accreditation for providing better outcomes for people approaching end of life care.
To find out about people’s experience of living at the home inspectors spoke with 17 residents and six visitors, sitting and engaging with them. Inspectors spent time observing care in communal areas and in people’s rooms and spoke to staff about the experiences of those they supported. Records regarding residents and the running of the home were inspected including care and support plans, personal files and records relating to medication.

“All members of the Frethey House family were observed during the inspection and were seen to treat our residents with warmth, kindness and dignity at all times. All of our team members, residents and families work well together to support each other and we are delighted to see that our service has again been rated as good by the CQC in every category.”
