Somerset Care’s latest care home welcomes ‘old’ residents!

Betty and Stephen, Manager at the local Co-op

The 15th March was an exciting day for the residents at Milton House as they moved into their new, purpose-built care home, Stockmoor Lodge.

Residents were excited for the move and received an additional surprise welcome from their local Co-op team. Accompanied by his staff team, Co-operative Manager, Stephen Gurd gave the care home residents a warm welcome with bouquets of flowers, boxes of chocolates and a delicious buffet lunch.

One of the residents, Eileen, was happy to share her thoughts on moving day: “I only arrived this morning, and you do get a bit worried when it’s a new place, but all my fears have gone. It’s a lovely place – the other place was too – but I am very pleased. All the same staff are here too I notice, that’s lovely.”

Offering her thanks to the Co-operative team, Barbara Lee, Manager of Stockmoor Lodge said: “We’re delighted to be all moved in and enjoying our new home. I would like to thank the local Co-operative team for all they have done today to welcome our residents. The move into a new home can sometimes be daunting, but being given colourful bouquets of flowers, boxes of chocolate and a lunch buffet was so welcoming for us all. I would also like to thank my team for the hard work they’ve put in to today and the build up to our move.”

Stockmoor Lodge is Somerset Care’s newest, purpose-built care home and provides residential, nursing, specialist dementia, respite and day care.
