On the 14th of March 2017, it was an extremely special day at Lostock Lodge Care Home, in Lostock Gralam. Residents Bill & June Stedman enjoyed their 64th wedding anniversary amongst family and friends.
Bill joined the Air Force at the age of 16, where he trained for three years, to become an engineer. Bill was then selected as an air crew member in 1950. It was also around this time in the early 1950’s that Bill was offered a professional football player contract! June was an actor, performing in pantomimes across the country. They were also both members of a local youth club, which is where they met, and got married in 1953.
Spread over three floors, Lostock Lodge is registered to provide personalised residential and dementia care in a luxury environment, but at an affordable cost to the local community, with 66 en-suite bedrooms, a hair salon, a café/bistro, a shop, a cinema room, and numerous lounges and communal areas. The home was officially opened in January 2016 and is already making a name for itself in the local community as a wonderful place to live.
Discussing Bill & June’s anniversary, Home Manager Cheryl Wildman stated “all of the team at Lostock Lodge we absolutely delighted to share their 64th anniversary with Bill and June, and help make the day special for them.”
