Dashing card design earns schoolchildren early Christmas present

Schoolchildren in Harrow have created dashing card designs in a Sanctuary Care home’s Christmas card competition.

Rebecca Vince, aged 10, from St Teresa’s Catholic Primary School and Nursery has won Rowanweald Residential and Nursing Home’s Christmas card competition with her winter window scene of snowmen lining up in the garden.

The Weald Lane home’s team and residents chose Rebecca’s card based on her fun and colourful design and the family of snowmen, which many felt represented family memories shared at Christmas time.

Activities leader Sunita Ramasawmy explained: “All of the cards we saw were so colourful and creative and it was just wonderful to see all the students’ different ideas.”

Sunita and 92-year-old resident Helen Condon visited the school yesterday to present Rebecca with a hamper filled with arts and crafts goodies for her hard work in front of her fellow students.

Helen said: “It was such a wonder idea and the students should be ever so proud of their creations, their cards were lovely.”

Sunita continued: “Rebecca’s design stood out from the crowd ever so slightly as we all liked how bright the card was and the fact there was a snowman family in the design, Christmas is all about making wonderful memories with your loved ones so seemed the perfect winner.”
