Tina Ravenhill has been named Carer of the Year by Richmond Council in their recent Dignity in Care Awards. Tina, who works as a Senior Care Assistant at Deer Park View Care Centre in Teddington, was nominated for the award by Mary Mitchell the daughter of a resident at the home.
In her nomination Mrs Mitchell commented: “Tina is a pivotal part of a strong, caring team. I have met a lot of care workers but Tina stands out. She is always dependable and if she says she will do something she does it. If she notices someone needs something, or that a resident I trying to do something she simply helps, striving to ensure the dignity of residents is maintained. It is these small things over and above the essential caring that make Tina so special.”
Tina lives in Surbiton and has worked at Deer Park View since 2011. She was one of four carers at Deer Park View nominated in the Care Worker of the Year (Older People’s Care) category. She received a certificate, trophy, £100 in high street shopping vouchers and a large bouquet of flowers at the awards ceremony at the town hall.
Isabella Mackenzie, Home Manager, said: “We are very proud of Tina for winning the award and delighted that four of our team members were nominated independently by relatives of our residents. Tina is very dedicated to her role – so much so that she travelled to the awards ceremony in her uniform and returned to finish her shift afterwards!”
Deer Park View, part of the Caring Homes Group, provides residential, nursing and specialist dementia care for up to 60 elderly people.
