singingThe Callywhite Care Home, last week, celebrated its first birthday with a Tea Dance to mark the special event.

The residential and dementia care home in Dronfield, which opened in November last year, put on a swinging celebration for residents, relatives and members of the local community to celebrate life at The Callywhite, one year on.

Everyone was dressed up in their best glad rags and enjoyed an afternoon of dancing and fun, with entertainment provided by Tanya Adele.  Tanya performed all the oldies from the 40’s to the 60’s and got everyone up singing and dancing.

Julie Garnett, Deputy Manager at The Callywhite said: “It’s been such a lovely event. The residents have had a wonderful time. I’ve never seen them dance so much.  Even some of the gentlemen were on the dance floor!”

Tanya led the Happy Birthday song as residents Margaret and Eileen blew out the candles.  Margaret and Eileen were the first residents to move into The Callywhite last November.

In a speech, he commented “When I first came to The Callywhite, I thought I was stepping into a hotel.  It really is furnished to a high standard. But what makes it really special is the kind and committed care team who do such a wonderful job of looking after all the residents here.”

Deepak Jaiswal, Home Proprietor added: “I can’t believe The Callywhite has been open a year already. It’s certainly gone very by very quickly.  We’ve had nothing but positive comments about the home and the residents that are here are all settled in well and enjoying their lives at The Callywhite.  Of course, this is all down to the great care team that we have here.  Julie has a strong, committed team who are dedicated to helping the resident’s to live full, active and independent lives. I would like to thank them all for their continued support and hard work.”

After all that jiving, residents and guests enjoyed a hearty buffet of sandwiches, quiche, sausage rolls and cake galore! Bridget, Head Cook at The Callywhite certainly put on the most amazing spread.

One resident said “I’ve never seen so much delicious food.  It’s been such a lovely party.”
