Audley St George’s Place, the luxury retirement village in Edgbaston, celebrated the completion of the roof of its centrepiece building, St George’s House, with a Topping Out ceremony on Friday 23rd September.

Nick Sanderson, CEO of Audley Retirement welcomed guests including Dr Keith G Bradshaw, High Sheriff of West Midlands, Audley owners and members of the local community to celebrate this key milestone in the development of Audley St George’s Place with champagne and lunch.

The unique development was previously the home of the Royal School for the Deaf. Situated just a short drive from Birmingham’s shops, restaurants and galleries, Audley St George’s Place will provide a mix of 95 apartments and cottages for over 55s.

Nick Sanderson, CEO of Audley Retirement, said: “We are all very proud to mark this milestone in the completion of the fantastic buildings at St George’s Place. The Topping Out ceremony allows us to celebrate the achievements of all those who have worked on the project, from tradesmen to architects. We will now be looking ahead to the next few months, when we will have the opportunity to welcome new owners to the village and to the New Year, when St George’s House and the restaurant will officially open. There has already been incredible demand for properties at Audley St George’s Place, demonstrating the continued need for innovative and high quality retirement living options.”

High Sheriff, Dr Keith G Bradshaw, said: “It’s a real joy to see this historic site being transformed and given a new purpose. I’m looking forward to visiting again once the site is completed and to welcoming the new owners into our community.”

The demand for properties at Audley St George’s Place is high, with just 9 apartments remaining for sale in the first phase. The village is centred around the Audley Club which offers luxury facilities including a restaurant, lounge, and bar & bistro as well as a library, swimming pool, gym and fitness suite. Facilities are available to both owners and members of the neighbouring communities.

Audley enables owners to live an independent and healthy lifestyle in their own homes, with access to the Audley Club facilities and flexible care. Individuals buy their cottage or apartment from Audley and own it on a 125 year lease.
