Surrounded by family and friends, Dot celebrated her birthday with a party and a live music performance by local singer Kevin Malvane. An avid music fan, Dot very much enjoys the music programme at Aaron Grange which sees live performers from around Liverpool come to the home to entertain residents.
The eldest resident at Aaron Grange, Dot’s birthday this year was extra special as she had a new visitor attend her birthday party. Dot’s new great-granddaughter, Dorothy May, who was born only 12 hours earlier came to meet her great-grandmother and wish her a happy birthday.
Born in 1923, Dot grew up in St Helens and stayed in the area to raise her two children. Following the loss of her husband, who was killed during the Second World War, Dot supported her family working in a number of betting shops. After her retirement, Dot got involved with the Liverpool Women’s Hospital and spent the next ten years knitting pieces of clothing for premature babies.
Teresa Scott, Home Manager at Aaron Grange, commented:
“We all had a great time celebrating Dot’s 93rd birthday which was made all the more special with the arrival of her new great-granddaughter!
“Dot is a very social and much loved member of the Aaron Grange community and we were very pleased to have the opportunity to celebrate with her.”
