Final piece laid in mosaic path jigsaw at new Shrewsbury care home

coverage-care-care-industry-newsA piece of creative artwork that will adorn a path that meanders through the garden of Shropshire’s newest care home is nearing completion.

The River Severn inspired 40-metre mosaic design will be a key feature in the grounds of Coverage Care’s new flagship facility, Montgomery House in Sundorne Road, Shrewsbury.

The 90-room home will offer residential and nursing care when it opens later this year.

The mosaic path has been designed and installed by Designs in Mind and will lead from the door of the centre around the gardens. The artwork was created in conjunction with residents from Crowmoor House, who will be among the first people to move into Montgomery House, which has been built on the site of the former Territorial Army Centre.

Councillor Kevin Pardy, who represents the local ward on Shrewsbury Town and Shropshire Councils, viewed the final pieces of the mosaic being installed during a recent visit to Montgomery House. He said:

“The mosaic path is a lovely touch that will bring a homely feel to the garden. I love the fact that it meanders along the path, echoing the ebb and flow of the River Severn.

“Having watched the development of Montgomery House, I am very excited that it will soon be opening and I am very proud to have this high quality facility located in my ward.”

It is the second time Coverage Care has worked with Designs in Mind. The organisation created art work for the reception and name boards for units at Coverage Care’s New Fairholme development in Oswestry. Coverage Care’s Operations Director Debbie Price said:

“Finishing the mosaic path indicates that the completion of Montgomery House is fast approaching and it will be lovely to see the reactions of the residents when they take their first steps out in the garden.”
