Celebrations were in full swing at Wessex House on 31st August as the Somerton nursing home held a huge event to recognise their staff and volunteers. The event was a joint celebration tying in Somerset Care’s 25th birthday.
Presentations were made to long-serving staff, including Maureen, who was recognised for an outstanding 20 years service with Somerset Care. The Manager, Tricia Yahya, then presented 14 members of staff with a certificate for their dedication and commitment. In the weeks leading up to the event, residents were able to vote for a winner of an ‘Outstanding Care Support’ award, this was presented to Wessex House staff member Angie.
Chris Davies, Chairman of the Somerset Care Group, joined the celebrations and gave a speech thanking everyone for their continuous support. Tricia and Chris then thanked the volunteers for their support to both the residents and staff at the Somerton nursing home. The Wessex House volunteers have donated a number of fish tanks to the home and fund raise to pay for trips out and activities.
After the presentations were made, everyone tucked into a delicious buffet and cake provided by the home’s Cook. Attendees then enjoyed live entertainment from Tim Bassett, an Elvis tribute act, who got everyone singing and dancing along.
