memory1Kind-hearted staff from a Bromsgrove care home have raised £300 to help people living with dementia by taking part in a major charity event.

Redwood House Residential Home in Barnt Green entered a small team into the popular 5km Alzheimer’s Society Memory Walk in Birmingham, raising money to provide support and help fund research into a cure for the disease.

The annual fundraising event, which saw hundreds of people take part this year, started and finished in the second city’s Cannon Hill Park.

Tracy O’Sullivan, care home manager at Redwood House, said: “Dementia is a subject very close to our hearts as many of our residents at Redwood House suffer with the disease.

“Our carers give amazing support to those residents every day and understand what is required to help make their lives as comfortable as possible.

“Taking part in the charity walk was therefore any easy decision to make as we were determined to do our bit and make a contribution.

“We had some great fun supporting the charity but there were lots of sore feet by the end of the day.”
