Home Meadow residential care home in Toft, Cambridgeshire is pleased to welcome a new home manager. Sabine Pietsch, who is originally from Germany, was appointed to the position in June and now leads the team, which specialises in providing both residential and specialist dementia care.
Home Meadow, which is part of the Healthcare Homes Group, is based in the west Cambridgeshire village of Toft and provides both care to the elderly and to those living with dementia. The team takes great pride in finding new and innovative ways of supporting those living with dementia lead a fulfilling life, whilst providing support to relatives and carers.
Sabine moved to the UK and began her career in healthcare as a carer at a BUPA nursing home in 2002. She was promoted to senior carer soon after, and has spent recent years working in home management, as a deputy manager, before progressing to home manager.
Home Meadow is rated as ‘good’ by the industry inspector, the Care Quality Commission, and Sabine is looking to further improve on this, taking the standards of care even higher.
In her short time in the post, Sabine has already initiated some new projects, including arranging the redecoration of communal areas and bathrooms and landscaping areas of the home’s surrounding gardens. She also has plans to add a sensory room for the benefit of those residents living with dementia.
Sabine says; “Home Meadow is a fantastic place to work and a wonderful place for residents to receive the care they need. It is recognised by the CQC as a ‘good’ home and my aim is to take that up a level to ‘outstanding’! I will be looking to make ongoing improvements by working with our activities and care staff to look at new ways of making a difference to the lives of our residents and their families. Alongside this I will be looking to further develop the team, with training and personal development.
I’d also like to find new ways of working with other local groups and charities. While we already have some excellent links with the local community through the work of the activities team, I want to make sure that Home Meadow is seen as a central part of the local Toft community so people get to know more about the great work we do here in supporting the elderly and those living with dementia.”
