It was game, set and match when a Sanctuary Care home in Iffley celebrated Wimbledon at their Strawberries and Pimm’s tea party.
Celebrating the final week of Wimbledon, the team and residents at Iffley Residential and Nursing Home in Anne Greenwood Close rolled back the clock to reminisce over favourite tennis stars – past and present – while sampling themed delicacies.
99-year-old resident Barbara Kerr said: “We really enjoyed the day, the entertainment and a nice glass of Pimm’s.”
The team were suitably dressed from head-to-toe in their finest white attire, while sporting brightly coloured sweatbands and the home was transformed into its very own centre court.
Live footage was playing and residents also enjoyed light armchair exercises with tennis balls and rackets.
Fellow resident Albina Rossetto, known as Riem, 89, added: “Wimbledon always makes for a nice afternoon.”
The Sanctuary Care home’s activities coordinator Sharon Woodley said: “Nothing says summer than enjoying Wimbledon with strawberries and Pimm’s!
“Many of our residents have such fond memories of the competition so we knew we had to host something special to really celebrate a pastime that means so much to many of them and we did just that!”
