Residents and staff from The New Deanery and St Mary’s Court residential care homes in Bocking had a delightful surprise when they were visited by two Shetland ponies named Rosie and Bonnie.
The two ponies, supplied by Magical Miniature, visited the care homes on the 29 June and residents were overjoyed to see them.
Resident Eileen Hearn said: “They were absolutely gorgeous it was lovely to see them and be able to pet them.”
Unice Garnham, wife of resident Ian Garnham, said: “The visit from the Shetland ponies brought such pleasure, everyone was smiling and responding to them.”
Jo Crosby, Head of Activities at The New Deanery and St Mary’s Court, said: “We always try to keep our activity programme varied and we thought the residents would love to see the ponies.
“It was a great afternoon and it was lovely to see everyone’s faces when they came in.”
The ponies will be visiting the residential care homes in Bocking again on 21 August for a Summer Fete held in the stunning 10 acre grounds.
Over the past few months the teams at The New Deanery and St Mary’s Court have had great successes. St Mary’s Court was praised in its latest CQC inspection with the home now rated as ‘good’ overall with a rating of ‘outstanding’ for leadership.
The teams at the homes also beat off fierce competition from across England to triumph in the category of Most Effective Approach to Leadership and Management, at the Skills for Care Accolades awards.
