Residents and staff of a family-run care business in the North East are celebrating after achieving their third outstanding Care Quality Commission (CQC) grading in less than a year – only the second care home group in the UK to achieve this and the first in the North East!
Park House, located on Park Lane in Guisborough, has been rated outstanding overall in the home’s most recent inspection published this week. The service has been rated outstanding for being effective, responsive and well-led, and was rated good for being safe and caring. A full report of the inspection is available at: http://www.cqc.org.uk/location/1-339866898.
The purpose-built residential care home was given lots of positive feedback from the inspector. The inspector was particularly impressed with the excellent person-centred care for residents and the varied range of stimulating activities on offer, including the careful thought that had been given to enhance the life of people living with dementia. The report also highlighted as outstanding the quality monitoring systems in place, the level of training and development provided for staff and the quality of the dining experience, including twilight dining and the innovative pureed food technique that the company has brought to the UK from Europe. The inspector reported that one resident described the home as the “Rolls Royce of care homes.”
In 2015, Eden House in Bishop Auckland was the first Helen McArdle Care home to achieve an outstanding CQC report, followed by Greenways Court in Consett in June 2016. 12 of Helen McArdle Care’s care homes are rated Good and two homes are currently awaiting the official publication of ratings under the CQC’s new regime.
Helen McArdle CBE, Chairman and Founder of Helen McArdle Care, is delighted to see that the care and facilities provided at Helen McArdle Care have been recognised as outstanding. She said: “My vision has always been to provide the highest quality of care for the elderly, so I am very proud to share the news that we now have three outstanding gradings from the CQC.
At Helen McArdle Care we work very hard to continually improve our services and to be innovative in everything that we do; to be one of only two care home groups in the country to achieve three outstanding gradings is a testament to the care, hard work and dedication of the whole team.”
Helen McArdle Care is a family-run business providing residential, dementia, nursing, respite care and home care for the elderly. The North East based company has 17 care homes located in County Durham, Hartlepool, Redcar and Cleveland, Tyne and Wear and Northumberland.
