Manor House care home in Merton welcomed the community in through their doors on the 17th June to celebrate National Care Home Open Day.
National Care Home Open Day aims to highlight the fantastic care that happens across the UK, and brought residents, relatives, friends and staff together to celebrate.
With a ‘Welcome to Wonderland’ theme, fancy dress was in abundance for an Alice in Wonderland style afternoon tea.
Manor House recently opened a new dedicated activities centre, Garden Lodge, and visitors were able to get involved in a wide range of activities at the hub.
A highlight of the day involved residents, visitors and staff alike enthusiastically taking part in a World Record attempt. Embrace Group, which runs Manor House, teamed up with Oomph! – a social enterprise dedicated to enhancing the health and wellbeing of older adults – to challenge members of the Embrace family from across the country to participate in a national synchronised exercise class.
With over 1,073 people having participated in the National Care Home Open Day Oomph! World Record challenge, there were celebrations all round as the previous record of 481 participants was well and truly bested. Amber Darbyshire, Activities Manager at Manor House, commented:
“This year we took our National Care Home Open Day celebrations to a new level. Plenty of fun was had by all, and we really enjoyed bringing the local community into Manor House. Ensuring residents continue to lead a full and fulfilling life in the community is very important to us at Manor House.”
Manor House care home is part of Embrace Group, and provides personalised nursing, residential and dementia care for older people.
