Do you know a retired person like to join a St Annes care home for a complimentary meal and enjoyable companionship?

Residents and staff at The Moorings Luxury Rest Home have been delighted by the success of their Complimentary Meal initiative.

Throughout April, the home extended a warm welcome to any retired locals who might welcome companionship, free tea and coffee plus a complimentary early evening meal in the beautiful surroundings at The Moorings. In view of its success this offer has now been extended, on a daily basis, throughout May and June.

Resident Chris Turnbull, originally from Thornton, explained: “The Moorings is my home, and my fellow residents and I decided that, just as we had done in our own individual homes, we would still like to invite people to join us for a cuppa, a chat and a meal. It has worked brilliantly and we have the pleasure of meeting new and potential friends.”

Peter Wood, director of The Mooring went on to say: “We are delighted that the views and hopes expressed by Chris have been achieved. The complimentary meal has been very popular, and we have received numerous visitors. Many have told us how much they have enjoyed their visit.”

Comments have ranged from:

“I have had a lovely day out and it has been so nice to meet other people.”

“What a great idea – I was made welcome from the moment I walked through the door.”

“Beautiful surroundings, a warm welcome, friendly company and even a delicious meal!  Who could ask for more?”

Fellow director Nick Wood said, “We have received a great response to our campaign. We have all enjoyed meeting new people from our local community and feel that the Meal a Day has been a wonderful experience for visiting guests and for our own residents.”

Host Donald Eastwood said: “Rebecca and I really enjoy being hosts. We greet people, show them round our home, and sit and have a good chat over coffee. We are so pleased that the scheme has been extended into May and June. We might even get to sit out and enjoy a coffee in the sunshine.”
