The horse named Mr Kelloggs, let residents pet and groom him as he was taken on a tour of the home, visiting a number of residents in their rooms.
The horse is part of Pony Pals, a travelling therapeutic initiative that take miniature horses and donkeys into care homes. Animal therapy aids reminiscence and communications for people living with dementia, helping to induce positive memories.
Becky O’Neill at Activities Coordinator at South Haven Lodge said:
“We always like to share new and exciting experiences with the residents and look forward to having Mr Kelloggs visit again in the future!”
