Sally Porter, resident of TLC Camberley Manor, was 100 years young this week. First training as a nurse before she had a calling to become a journalist, Sally travelled the world throughout her younger years, and then cruised around it after retiring!
After getting up for her birthday breakfast, Sally got her golden slippers and tiara on to receive a telegram from Her Majesty the Queen, who also celebrates her birthday this week.
Mayor Joanne Potter came in full robes to wish Sally a happy birthday, before The Royal Logistics Corps drummed for her in Camberley Manor gardens. Sally was then whisked away in General Montgomery’s Rolls Royce Silver Wraith, the very same car used by the General to surprise his troops by driving in it across the sands on D-Day, for a tour around Camberley with her son Michael.
During the celebrations Sally was in top vocal form and sang a rendition of ‘You Are My Sunshine’ to the team at Camberley Manor.
