Work to extend and renovate a specialist dementia care home in Hampshire has now completed. Based in Chandlers Ford, Hampshire, Valley Lodge Care Home provides specialist care for those living with dementia. It is owned and run by healthcare operator Karim Rajan.
Supported by a substantial funding package from Royal Bank of Scotland, Valley Lodge Care Home has recently completed significant work to update the care home’s existing bedrooms and extend the building. As a result the care home has increased its capacity to provide accommodation and personal care to 47 individuals (consisting of 44 bedrooms which include three double bedrooms).
Valley Care Lodge Care Home has created 24 brand new en-suite bedrooms and carried out modernisation work to ensure the care home’s existing bedrooms are all at the same high standard as the new additions. The existing bedrooms have been fully refurbished and updated, benefitting from the addition of individual wet rooms. The centre’s communal facilities have been enhanced, with the creation of a large new lounge area and separate large dining room providing a better living environment for its residents. The project is estimated to have cost in the region of £1.2m.
Karim Rajan, owner of Valley Lodge Care Home said: “The enhancements we have made to the care home are fantastic and will enable us to provide a heightened level of care to our residents. I am thrilled with the improvements that have been made and am pleased that we have been able to extend our offering to more individuals in need of care in the area.
“I’d like to thank our staff for all of their hard work during this change period and am pleased that everything has been carried out with minimal disruption to our residents care.
“The support we have received from Royal Bank of Scotland has enabled us to carry out the development works to an impeccably high standard and I am thankful for the support the bank has shown us.”
Andrew Marsh, Relationship Director, Healthcare, at Royal Bank of Scotland added: “Karim has created a superb facility that is both practical, modern and comfortable for residents to enjoy. We are pleased that we have been able to support the redevelopment and look forward to continuing to work alongside him.”
