The care team at Sandon House care home in Mossley are celebrating after they were presented with a ‘Daisy Dignity In Care’ award in recognition for their ‘excellent end of life care’.
The Dignity in Care campaign aims to put dignity and respect at the heart of services. It is about treating people as individuals and respecting them and the things they hold as important and value. It is made up of Dignity Champions, individuals or care organisations such as the NHS who are working individually and collectively, to ensure people have a good experience of care when they need it.
Emily Ormrod and her team received the Best Practice award at a ceremony organised by the Dignity Team held at Albion Church, Ashton-under-Lyne on the 10th February 2016.
Alison Harrison, Locality Administrator for The Dignity In Care Team explained more:
“Emily and the team at Sandon House were nominated by Wendy Irons from the Palliative Care Team for providing excellent end of life care to two residents over a weekend, ensuring the residents and their family’s wishes were fulfilled, in challenging circumstances.”
Sandon House Manager Danielle Whittaker was delighted with the award:
“Meridian Healthcare and Sandon House have a longstanding reputation for providing high quality care and I am so proud of Emily and the team for their continued effort in ensuring that all of our residents are treated with the upmost respect and dignity.
I am delighted that their hard work in continually improving the care we provide has been recognised through this award.’
