CQC-care industry newsThe Care Quality Commission has rated Intermediate Care at Home in Grimsby, North East Lincolnshire, as Outstanding following an announced inspection in October and November 2015.

Intermediate Care at Home provides short term personal care services to people in their own home. The service is part of Care Plus Group which is a social enterprise and is contracted by the local authority and NHS services to deliver a range of adult health and social care services.

The service has been rated Outstanding for being caring, responsive to peoples needs and well led, and was rated Good for being safe and effective – rated Outstanding overall.   A full report of the inspection has been published at:

The service was highly thought of, and people who used the service told inspectors that they felt safe and secure when receiving care, and staff treated them with kindness, compassion and were patient with them – inspectors also saw that the service had received many compliment cards praising the service and staff.  Inspectors saw that the staff providing care and support were highly skilled, well trained and enthusiastic about their work, and there was a real effort to continually develop the service to better care for the people that depended on it.  Managers and staff were committed to a strong person centred culture and imbedded a strong set of key principles into the service to ensure people’s needs were met safely and with care.  Staff worked collaboratively within the local community to help people avoid the risks of social isolation, supporting people to participate in local health and well-being groups which helped them develop their independence.  The management of the service had a strong emphasis on quality care, and endeavoured to ensure an open and transparent working culture.

Debbie Westhead, Deputy Chief Inspector for Adult Social Care in the North, said:

“The staff at Intermediate Care at Home were providing an outstanding level of care to the people they supported. People told us that they felt safe and well cared for when they were being supported by the service, and staff helped them feel more included in the local community, supporting them to be more independent.

“We received many positive comments about the service, how great the care was and not only from the people using the service but the staff too. Everyone at Intermediate Care at Home should feel proud of the work they do.

“It is for this and many other reasons why the service has received the highest rating we can give.”
