The coffee shop at Field View, which is home to 38 residents and offers residential care for the elderly and those living with dementia, was decorated with lanterns, fans and red decorations, the traditional colour of good luck.
Among the enchanting activities was an Asian tasting buffet featuring a selection of Chinese dishes and dips for the more adventurous to try. Residents also made their own Chinese lanterns, discussed traditions surrounding Chinese New Year and had the chance to view and try on traditional dress such as a Chinese parasol and silk dress robe.
Field View Care Home Activities Co-ordinator Janice Hardy, Said: “It’s always fun to try something new so we like to offer a varied range of activities and events for our residents to enjoy. Our Chinese New Year celebrations went down very well with residents. The Asian buffet was big hit and we all had fun making lanterns and learning about Chinese New Year customs and traditions.”
