Sunrise of Eastbourne is celebrating after gaining national recognition for the quality of its food.
The senior living community and its Head Chef, Dean Haffenden, were recently named Care Establishment of the Year at the National Association of Care Catering (NACC) Awards. Sunrise picked up the prize as a result of Dean and his team’s level of service, attention to detail and the overall quality of the food.
In fact, the awards judge who visited the community, commented: “the food sampled was simply excellent and I would gladly pay good money for that in a restaurant.” The quality of food was even recognised by the Care Quality Commission (CQC) when they inspected Sunrise. The report from May 2015 reads: “All feedback about the food provided was very positive… They told us that food was consistently good and that their favourite foods were always available.”
Dean, who has twice reached the final of the national Care Cook of the Year competition, leads a team of 12 catering staff.
Emma Vieira, Director of Community Relations at Sunrise of Eastbourne, said:
“We are so proud of Dean and the whole catering team here for winning the award. The care and attention detail they show every day is inspiring and we are so lucky to have them.”
