Voluntary Organisations Disability Group chief executive speaks on the independent review of deaths of people with a learning disability or mental health problems in contact with Southern Health NHS Foundation Trust
Reflecting on the report Dr Rhidian Hughes, VODG chief executive, said:
“This is another sickening report that demonstrates shocking inequalities faced by people with mental health needs and learning disabilities.
The report points to the existence of a culture where in life people with mental health needs and learning disabilities are somehow less eligible for high quality provision than the rest of us. In death, their passing is characterised by one of wilful indifference”.
