On Thursday 10th December Wren Park School celebrated with some festive singing at Derby Heights Care Home, after winning a competition to name the floors at the newly built luxury retirement home. To strengthen community links with the school even further, Derby Heights has named their stunning atrium café ‘Wren’s Café’, and presented a £218 fundraiser cheque to the School, which will be used to acquire gardening and cooking equipment.
The event was enjoyed by all with many of the residents reminiscing back to when they sang in local choirs in Derby. Alex Buckley, head teacher of Wren Park School, said “We all thought the welcome and surroundings of Derby Heights was lovely, and I would like to thank all the residents and staff for inviting us. Hopefully this will be a start of a friendly and fun partnership between the young and elderly communities of Mickleover and Littleover”.
Lorraine Ford, Manager at Derby Heights, said “Our beautiful new Retirement Care Home has only recently opened and it is brilliant to already be involved with the local community; we are delighted at the success of the competition, and extend a welcome for everyone to come and see Wren’s Café anytime.”
