The new state-of-the-art care home in Garforth near Leeds, took a step closer to opening last week as Mary Usher was appointed as Care Centre Manager.
Mary has gained over 20 years’ experience in the care sector, of which the last five years have been spent as Care Centre Manager of fellow Meridian Healthcare home, Acacia Court, in Pudsey. In that time, Mary was awarded Care centre Manager of the Year and played an integral part in the company achieving an Investors In People Gold Award.
Mary pioneered a number of initiatives in her previous role that she is keen to introduce at Augustus Court, such as a partnership with local high schools to offer placements and employment opportunities for Health & Social Care students. She is also keen to make the facilities at the new 58 bed care home available to the local community, including the gymnasium, the hair salon and the onsite spa.
“I’m thrilled to have been appointed to take up this exciting role. Augustus Court is a fantastic home with so many wonderful facilities on offer to residents.
We have already involved members of the local community in the naming of the home and I hope to build on these releationships to place Augustus Court firmly at the heart of the community.
The marketing suite is now open and I’m really looking forward to welcoming our first residents early in the New Year!”
Away from work, Mary enjoys spending time with her family and friends and particularly catching up with her three grown up daughters.
Situated at the heart of Garforth, the home will provide residential care and support for up to 58 elderly ladies and gentlemen. Run by award-winning Meridian Healthcare, the home will join the company’s Premiere Collection.
