Residents and staff of The Moorings Luxury Rest Homes on North Promenade in Lytham St Annes have got together with local councillors Brenda Blackshaw, Cheryl Little and prospective Councillor Peter Anthony to set aside a place to invite an older person from their local community, who may be living on their own or lonely to visit the Moorings for a free lunch and some company. The ‘Meal a day for Christmas’ idea will run throughout December and up to New Year’s Day. Transport for each guest can be organised, if required.
Peter Wood of The Mooring said;
“Christmas is obviously a time where we think about people who are lonely and we wanted to do something more than offer advice and invite people to come to our events or have some afternoon tea.
“We often have guests visit us and end up staying for lunch or joining us for some entertainment, the run up to Christmas made us think of doing something more.
“Cheryl, Brenda and Peter were the obvious choices to help us because of their regular help to organise events with residents as well as their support for the elderly and our community.”
