A leading Lancashire care group is encouraging more people to join the care industry at all levels as demand for high quality care grows.

The family-run Mosaic Care Group, based in Preston, is highlighting the case for working in care and says there are plenty of employment opportunities available.

The call from Mosaic follows a warning earlier this year from the charity Independent Age and the International Longevity Centre that there will be a shortage of nearly 200,000 care workers in the UK within the next five years.

Mosaic managing director Claire Fryer said: “As people continue to live longer attracting people to careers in care is more important than ever.  There are opportunities for people of all ages, including those starting their working life, those looking for a career change or people looking to return to the sector.

“The care industry offers a huge range of careers, it could be working in a home, out in the community or from someone’s home. If you’re looking for a career where you can progress, develop new skills and make a positive difference to people’s lives, then social care may be for you.”

Claire added: “This year we have been working closely with partners to showcase the care sector at careers fairs and events. On the whole, the response has been positive but we still want to get the message out there that this is a sector offering plenty of opportunities.”

“We value our staff and the difference they make to people’s lives. Life is for living and we do everything we can to make that life enjoyable for the people we care and that makes for a rewarding and fulfilling career for those working in it.”
